What a courageous move, Nick! I saw a number of similar posts over the years and not all had this level of clarity on opportunities ahead of them (or how they can evolve).
I became nervous when you said a crypto income can cover your expenses (but then you mentioned volatility and I exhaled with relief). It's good you diversified.
Good luck with your upcoming rocketship of your own 🙂
Great read! Wish you the best! I myself have been in this zone for a few years now. Though the initial goal was to build a "startup", I have realized that the opportunity is actually much bigger. To explore, build your cash flow, get back time, and then do what you would actually like to! Quite difficult to crack but definitely worth trying :)
Nick, I admire your move. I chose self employment earlier this year and am reaping many of the benefits. The greatest drawback, however, is healthcare coverage. I’ve got that solved for another six months…but our nation is so tied to insurance as a benefit of work, that it really challenges those of us who seek the route of self employment.
BTW in different eras this was known as a portfolio career, or going Indy. Whatever you call it, it’s NOT for everybody. But it’s a journey I am enjoying.
Congrats on this next stage Nick! Been fun to watch the ride.
Thanks, David!

Fortunately or unfortunately I lived through the 2017 run-up and comedown for crypto. So I've hopefully learned at least a few lessons 🙂

Indeed. The health care thing is nuts. Thank goodness my wife still has her steady job. But something really needs to change there.
Very excited for you, JD 🙂
This was a great read. Thanks for being open with your story - I definitely relate to the urgency to do something after reading the Great Online Game!
Congrats on this next stage Nick! Been fun to watch the ride.
Great principles, thank you for passing those along, to us all.
Wishing you the best of luck!
Being an entrepreneur (solo-preneur?) is a fantastic vehicle for self-growth and constant reflection towards self-mastery.
